6. If necessary, rotate the UPS control panel so that it is correctly orientated. To achieve this, carefully pull
the control panel forward to unclip it from its mounting, rotate it to the correct angle, then relocate it and
press it back into place.
7. This completes the tower hardware configuration. The UPS should now be commissioned as detailed in
paragraph 3.5.1 before it is put into service.
3.3.2 UPS module with external battery cabinet
Figure 3.4 Stand-alone tower configuration with external battery.
This is similar to the preceding procedure. Note that the external battery enclosure is of a similar mechanical
design to the UPS enclosure and comes complete with its own rack/tower hardware configuration kit. The
battery cabinet is secured to the right of the UPS (when viewing from the front) as follows:
1. Turn the UPS on its side and attach two tower feet (A1) as shown in Figure 3.4 to the left hand side of the
enclosure base.
2. Remove the sole plates from the two remaining tower feet and fit them to the base of the UPS so that
they do not protrude from the side of the enclosure (see Figure 3.4). This is done to ensure the UPS base
stands level when it is turned back on its feet.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 on the base of the battery enclosure, ensuring that the protruding feet are fitted to
the enclosure’s right hand side.
4. If necessary, rotate the UPS control panel so that it is correctly orientated. To achieve this, carefully pull
the control panel forward to unclip it from its mounting, rotate it to the correct angle, then relocate it and
press it back into place.
5. Carefully lift both assemblies and stand them on their feet adjacent to each other, with the battery
enclosure standing to the right of the UPS enclosure.
6. Remove three screws from the top of the each enclosure (two from the front and one from the back), as
shown in Figure 3.4 right hand diagram.
7. Fit the tie bar (A4) between the two enclosures to secure them together (after removing the necessary
screws from the tops of the enclosures).
8. Attach the angle brackets (A2) to the top front of the UPS enclosure, using two screws, such that the lip
of the bracket faces the enclosure’s front.
9. Locate the new UPS enclosure top panel (A3) into the bracket and secure it in place by screwing it to the
top rear of the enclosure using a single screw.
